Verb Conjugation (Präsens)

In German, verbs change depending on the subject (who is doing the action). This is called conjugation.

1. Regular Verb: lernen (to learn)

Pronoun	Conjugation	Example
ich	lerne	Ich lerne Deutsch. → I learn German.
du	lernst	Du lernst Englisch. → You learn English.
er/sie/es	lernt	Er lernt Spanisch. → He learns Spanish.
wir	lernen	Wir lernen Deutsch. → We learn German.
ihr	lernt	Ihr lernt Italienisch. → You all learn Italian.
sie/Sie	lernen	Sie lernen Deutsch. → They/You (formal) learn German.

2. Regular Verb: spielen (to play)

Pronoun	Conjugation	Example
ich	spiele	Ich spiele Fußball. → I play football.
du	spielst	Du spielst Gitarre. → You play guitar.
er/sie/es	spielt	Sie spielt Klavier. → She plays piano.
wir	spielen	Wir spielen Tennis. → We play tennis.
ihr	spielt	Ihr spielt Schach. → You all play chess.
sie/Sie	spielen	Sie spielen Karten. → They/You (formal) play cards.

3. Pattern for Regular Verbs

-e ending → ich (I)
-st ending → du (you, singular)
-t ending → er/sie/es (he, she, it)
-en ending → wir (we)
-t ending → ihr (you, plural)
-en ending → sie/Sie (they / you formal)

4. Important Note

💡 Some verbs are irregular and don’t follow this pattern (like sein = to be, haben = to have). These must be memorized separately.
