Nominalstil (Nominal Style)

In formal German writing (official letters, academic papers, reports), the Nominalstil is often used. This style replaces verbs and adjectives with nouns, making the text more compact and formal.

1. Example: Verb → Noun

Normal (Verbform):
Wir untersuchen die Ergebnisse.
→ We examine the results.

Nominalstil:
Die Untersuchung der Ergebnisse.
→ The examination of the results.

Normal:
Er ist bekannt für seine Arbeit.
→ He is known for his work.

Nominalstil:
Die Bekanntheit seiner Arbeit.
→ The fame of his work.
